Standard Job Description
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a Test Engineer to join the emergingâtechnology Sensor Fusion team. You will play a pivotal role in validating and verifying sensorâfusion capabilities, analyzing requirements, and develop test cases for nextâgeneration fighter. Your work will ensure that novel sensor concepts are robust, flightâready, and meet the rigorous performance standards required by advanced aerospace systems.
What Youâll Do
- Develop Test Strategies & Plans â Create comprehensive verification and validation (V&V;) test strategies for sensorâfusion software, including unit, integration, system, and hardwareâinâtheâloop (HIL) testing.
- Design & Execute Test Cases â Write detailed test cases and test scripts (manual and automated) that exercise algorithm functionality, edgeâcase scenarios, and realâworld sensor data streams.
- Build Test Infrastructure â Implement and maintain automated test frameworks, test harnesses, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to run regression suites on target hardware and simulators.
- Perform Data Collection & Analysis â Capture sensor data, groundâtruth measurements, and algorithm outputs; analyze results using statistical methods to quantify accuracy, latency, and reliability.
- Coordinate CrossâDisciplinary Reviews â Work closely with algorithm, software, and hardware engineers to identify defects, trace requirements to test artifacts, and drive issue resolution.
- Document Findings â Produce clear, standardsâcompliant test reports, defect logs, and traceability matrices that support certification and program milestones.
- Support Continuous Improvement â Contribute to process improvements, testâprocedure standardization, and tooling enhancements across the Sensor Fusion group.

Basic Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with embedded test rigs, realâtime operating systems, and timing analysis tools.
- Ability to execute tests on representative flightâhardware platforms (e.g., ARM, FPGA).
- Proficiency with testâmanagement tools (e.g., Jira, IBM DOORS) and maintaining traceability to system requirements.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present test outcomes to multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, C# or MATLAB for test script development.
- Experience with testâautomation frameworks (e.g., pytest, Robot Framework, Google Test).
- Use of Simulink/MATLAB for modelâinâtheâloop (MIL) and hardwareâinâtheâloop (HIL) testing.

- Prior experience testing sensorâfusion software in aerospace or defense.
- Knowledge of LIDAR, RADAR, EO/IR cameras
- Experience testing sensorâtasking, prioritization, and informationâvalue metrics.
- Experience testing dataâassociation techniques (nearestâneighbor, JPDA, MHT) and verifying track continuity under challenging scenarios.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $98100.00 - $182100.00

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
