Senior Automation Tester Wellington 12-month fixed-term contract
Role Summary & Responsibilities
- Lead test strategy and architecture across systems and teams.
- Design and implement robust automation frameworks and tooling (backend, frontend, mobile, integration, performance).
- Conduct API testing, end-to-end integration testing, CI/CD, and performance testing.
- Apply shift-left testing, defect tracking, and test management practices.
- Champion modern observability patterns and DevOps practices.
- Collaborate in Agile and DevOps environments, promoting shared responsibility for quality.
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Key Requirements:
- 7+ years of quality engineering experience with deep understanding of engineering principles and automation practices.
- Skilled in designing test strategies, frameworks, and tooling for backend, frontend, mobile, integration, or performance.
- Advanced skills in Javascript/Typescript, Playwright, Java.
- Experience with DevOps practices and other test frameworks (RestAssured, Cypress).
- Experience with API testing, end-to-end integration testing, CI/CD, and performance testing.
- Experience with shift-left testing, defect tracking, test management, and modern observability patterns.
- Proven autonomy and initiative in leading automation design and strategy.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence through thought leadership.
- Quality and reliability mindset, designing resilient, scalable test systems.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
