Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Pega QA Engineer in Quality Assurance specializing in Pega applications to join our testing and quality delivery team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive testing strategies to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of Pega-based solutions. Your contributions will help maintain high standards in our business-critical applications, supporting seamless operations and continuous improvement aligned with business objectives.

Software Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Pega PRPC (Pega Platform) expertise with hands-on experience in testing frameworks and practices
  • Automation testing tools such as Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, and Appium
  • Programming skills in Java and/or Python for scripting and automation development
  • Familiarity with Apache POI API for Excel data processing
  • Version control tools (Git, Jenkins) for CI/CD integration
  • Build tools like Maven for test execution management

Preferred Skills:

  • Playwright knowledge for web automation
  • Experience with other automation frameworks such as KeywordDriven, DataDriven, and Hybrid frameworks
  • Knowledge of web service testing and API validation

Overall Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement testing strategies and test cases for Pega applications to validate functionality, performance, and security
  • Collaborate effectively with developers, business analysts, and product managers to understand system requirements and expected behaviors
  • Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including test plans, scripts, and defect reports
  • Execute test cases and automation scripts; perform regression testing to confirm bug fixes and system stability
  • Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution and verification
  • Review code quality and perform code reviews in the context of automation scripts and test cases
  • Monitor testing outcomes, report quality metrics (e.g., defect density, open defect count), and recommend improvement actions
  • Stay updated on emerging testing tools, techniques, and industry best practices to enhance testing effectiveness
  • Support deployment activities by integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Maven
  • Provide feedback on application usability, security, and performance risks, communicating concerns to stakeholders

Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages (Essential):

  • Java (required for test scripting and automation frameworks)
  • Python (preferred for automation scripting and data manipulation)

Frameworks and Libraries (Essential):

  • Selenium WebDriver with TestNG or JUnit (for automation scripting)
  • API testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent)

Data Management & Document Processing:

  • Apache POI API for reading/writing Excel files

Development Tools & Methodologies:

  • Continuous integration (Jenkins) for automated test execution and deployment
  • Build tools such as Maven for project management
  • Agile/Scrum development processes

Testing Strategies & Frameworks:

  • Knowledge of KeywordDriven, DataDriven, and Hybrid testing frameworks
  • Regression, functional, integration, and performance testing practices

Other Technologies:

  • Basic understanding of Pega case management, Data Transforms, Activities, Decision Tables (preferred)
  • API and web service testing experience

Security & Standards:

Experience Requirements

  • Between 6 to 10 years of experience in software quality assurance and testing, with at least 5+ years leading or managing QA teams
  • Proven experience in testing Pega applications, including case types, integrations, and decision rules
  • Extensive background in automation scripting and execution using Selenium, TestNG, and related tools
  • Experience working within Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, reliable software applications in fast-paced, collaborative settings
  • Familiarity with API testing, web services, and web application performance validation

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, and review sessions
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to understand application requirements and testing needs
  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual test scripts for Pega solutions
  • Perform regression, functional, and performance testing; analyze results and document defects
  • Review test results, assess quality metrics, and communicate findings with stakeholders
  • Conduct code reviews, especially of automation scripts, ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Support deployment activities and continuous integration processes using Jenkins and Maven
  • Stay current with emerging testing tools, methodologies, and platform updates
  • Provide regular feedback on application usability, stability, and security considerations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • Relevant certifications in software testing or automation (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Tester) are preferred
  • Proven hands-on experience with Pega applications and automation testing tools
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile development processes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude for identifying root causes of defects
  • Effective communication skills to articulate testing issues and collaborate with teams
  • Leadership experience in guiding testing teams or activities (preferred)
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, tools, and project requirements
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on high-quality outputs and process improvements
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment
