Job Description
Firmware QA Engineer test frameworks, embedded systems field instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and control devices
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and executeautomated and manual test casesfor embedded firmware used in Oil & Gas equipment.
- Develop and maintaintest frameworksfor regression, functional, integration, and system-level testing.
- Perform hands-on testing of devices, includingsensor calibration validation, real-time data acquisition, and communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, HART, RS485, etc.).
- Analyze test results, log defects, and collaborate with development teams for root cause analysis and resolution.
- Ensure firmware meets safety, reliability, and compliance standards (API, ISO, IEC, etc.).
- Assist in development and execution ofhardware-in-the-loop (HIL)testing strategies.
- Work with cross-functional teams to definetest strategies, traceability matrices, and quality metrics.
- Support field deployment teams in testing and troubleshooting firmware-related issues under real-world conditions.
Qualifications
- Bachelorās degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Good hands-on experience in firmware QA/testing, preferably in aregulated or industrial environment.
- Strong hands-on experience withtest frameworkslikeGoogle Test,Robot Framework,Unity (for C), orPyTest.
- Proficiency inscripting languages(Python, Shell, etc.) for test automation.
- Experience testingembedded systems, RTOS, device drivers, and communication interfaces.
- Familiarity withoscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers, and other lab equipment.
- Working knowledge ofSCADA,PLC, orindustrial communication protocolsis a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience withfirmware QA in the Oil & Gas, energy, or heavy industrial sector.
- Exposure tosafety-critical systemsor compliance with industry-specific QA standards (e.g.,IEC 61508,API standards,ATEX,SIL).
- Experience withDevOps pipelinesand CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Knowledge ofhardware bring-up testingandfield deployment validation.
