The story behind this role

At Cheesecake Labs, quality is not something we validate at the end of the process.

We’re usually brought in when products are still evolving, requirements are not fully defined yet, and teams need to balance speed, user experience, business priorities, and technical quality all at the same time.

Many of our client engagements start with strategic conversations and evolve quickly into active projects. That’s why we maintain a network of strong contractor QA professionals we can engage quickly when the right projects come in.

Engagement Details

  • Contract Type:This is a contractor position for temporary, for a project-based engagement in Brazil
  • Compensation:Payment is made in USD.
  • Remote work, flexible environments, and impactful products.

What this role actually looks like

This is not a "just execute test cases" type of role.

On a typical project, you might:

  • Perform exploratory, regression, and end-to-end testing across web and mobile applications
  • Work closely with team members to figure out what should actually be built
  • Validate that applications meet business, functional, and user experience requirements
  • Identify, document, and communicate bugs with clear reproduction steps and relevant context
  • Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and engineers throughout the development lifecycle
  • Plan and execute test cycles, helping define priorities, scope, and coverage
  • Participate in product and delivery discussions with international clients and multidisciplinary teams

What tends to work well here

We’ve seen that people who thrive in this type of engagement usually:

  • Have solid experience with manual testing, including exploratory, regression, and end-to-end testing
  • Have hands-on experience testing mobile applications across iOS and Android environments
  • Know how to identify, document, prioritize, and communicate issues clearly
  • Think beyond test cases and genuinely care about product quality and user experience
  • Collaborate well with engineers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders
  • Already use AI as part of their day-to-day workflow — whether for test case creation, bug investigation, documentation, workflow acceleration, or quality analysis

This probably won’t be your thing if

Just to be transparent:

  • You’re looking for a highly stable long-term internal role with fixed scope and predictable allocation
  • You prefer working only from predefined test scripts and rarely challenge requirements
  • You’re uncomfortable collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering teams
  • You dislike ambiguity and fast-changing priorities
  • You see quality as solely the QA team's responsibility

There’s nothing wrong with any of that — it’s just not how these engagements usually operate.

One last thing

This opportunity is open only to candidates based in Brazil.

To participate in this selection process, you must:

  • Be legally authorized to work as an independent contractor in Brazil
  • Have a valid business registration in your country (such as CNPJ, VAT, EIN, or equivalent)
  • Have a bank account eligible to receive USD payments
  • Be able to invoice accordingly if required for the engagement

These requirements are necessary for contractor engagement and payment processing.
