What this Job Entails:
A Software QA Engineer is responsible for the development of internal QA strategies for automated UI and load testing, regression and smoke testing, and manual UX testing. They are also responsible for executing tests and collecting results to identify and report defects to the product engineering teams and will confirm that defects have been fixed before software is released. They will also be responsible for analyzing, reproducing, and logging customer-reported defects.
Manual QA Tester to uphold the quality and performance of its world-class products. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our solutions deliver an exceptional user experience by identifying, documenting, and helping resolve software defects. You will collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to implement thorough testing strategies, guaranteeing our products meet functional and performance standards before they reach end users. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to quality assurance in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning and Execution
- Design, execute, and refine comprehensive manual test plans and test cases based on product specifications, acceptance criteria, and user stories.
- Ensure test coverage across various platforms, including web, desktop, and mobile applications.
- Actively participate in sprint cycles to align testing activities with development timelines and priorities.
Bug Identification and Tracking
- Identify, document, and categorize software defects with precise and actionable descriptions.
- Leverage tools such as Jira or TestRail to manage bug tracking and test case repositories.
- Communicate effectively with development teams to prioritize and resolve critical issues promptly.
Quality Advocacy
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and UX designers, to ensure product quality from concept to delivery.
- Proactively engage in requirement reviews and design discussions to anticipate potential quality risks.
- Advocate for user-centric testing, focusing on usability, accessibility, and functionality from an end-user perspective.
Regression and Exploratory Testing
- Conduct regression testing to validate existing functionality after new updates or fixes.
- Perform exploratory testing to uncover hidden issues and edge cases not covered by predefined test scenarios.
Validation and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Validate fixes for reported defects and verify the quality of impacted application areas.
- Assist in organizing and executing UAT, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the product aligns with user expectations and business requirements.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation, including test plans, test results, and methodologies.
- Provide regular updates on testing progress, results, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in manual software testing or quality assurance.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and various testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in using bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
- Demonstrated ability to test across platforms, including web, desktop, and mobile applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to think from an end-user’s perspective to identify critical issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, including experience in sprint planning and backlog grooming.
- Experience with testing SaaS products, cloud storage solutions, or file-sharing applications.
- Basic knowledge of API testing, even if performed manually.
- Proven ability to write well-structured, clear, and concise test cases, test plans, and bug reports.
